JOB DESCRIPTION - ELECTRICAL FOREMAN

Education

1.Must have a valid "Electrical Construction & Maintenance" License for the Province of Ontario.
2.Has completed several continuing education courses related to Construction and has obtained Gold Seal certification.
3.To pursue continuing education by participating in courses and training directly related to the Construction Industry.

Experience

1.Has a minimum of 10 years experience with an Electrical Contractor, and is capable of managing multiple projects with values of up to $ 500,000.

Summary

To effectively carry out all office related responsibilities for one or more projects, from tender award to completion of warranty, while securing the largest possible profit consistent with above average quality workmanship and scheduled completions. Report directly to the Partner in charge of Construction and, where necessary or desirable, to the Partner in charge of Estimating.

Duties

1.To work in harmony with the project foremen/superintendents, each on an equal basis and reporting collectively and independently to the Partner in charge of Construction.
2.To assist in the development of Project Coordinators and Project Managers.
3.To assist the Partners with the promotion of business sales and relationship between prospective and current clients.
4.To have a thorough knowledge of plans and specifications relating to each project for which he/she is responsible.
5.To implement proper project startup procedures, including obtaining building permits, fire insurance, Builders’ All Risk insurance, liability insurance, bonds, Department of Labour approvals, and the issuance of job contract summaries.
6.The preparation of project budgets.
7.The initial and interim scheduling of construction work together with the project foreman/superintendent.
8.The evaluation of sub-trade quotations and the issuance of purchase orders for all items relating to projects for which he/she is responsible.
9.The administration and expedition of subcontracts and purchases following award.
10.The coordination and processing of shop drawings.
11.Attend all site meetings, record and distribute minutes.
12.Specific liaison work with architects and/or owners for all projects he/she is managing.
13.The preparation and submission of quotations for changes to the work.
14.The expediting and processing of change orders.
15.The review and analysis of interim costs and the preparation of quarterly job forecasts to be submitted to the Partners.
16.The preparation of monthly invoices to owners and the approval of payments to subcontractors.
17.The final clean-up of projects and turnover to owner, including expediting of final hold-back release.
18.Final check of files to be certain that no extra work was carried out without remuneration.
19.The promotion of safety on all construction projects as Chair of the Company’s safety committee.
20.Together with the Partners, the allocation of foremen and superintendents to the most suitable projects.
21.To be on the alert constantly for new ways of carrying out construction operations to effect savings.
